For a cloud based business, like TiCK Business Support, Gmail is a great email provider as it's so accessible, flexible and affordable. One thing that always annoyed me a little though is that I couldn't seem to find a way to use it as my default mail client. What do I mean? Each time I clicked a link or button on a website that was linked to an email the native mail client OS Mail opened up.
That is until I found this handy little tip for Chrome users:
First, you open gmail in your Chrome browser
At the top right of the browser bar you should see a icon looking like two interlinked diamonds (see image below).
Click on the diamond
This opens a new window allowing you to select 'use gmail'
If you do not see a the diamond, follow these instructions:
If you made a mistake and selected "No" and you really wanted to select "Use Gmail"
Open chrome then copy and paste this into your address bar at the top: chrome://settings/handlers
In the Ignored protocol handlers section click on X to the right to delete
Next close and reopen Gmail
Repeat the steps above and ensure you select 'use gmail'
Want to try it out now? Click this link to my email now to see if it works. If you want to let me know, feel free to send the email to say 'Hi'.
