Keeping your online accounts safe with 2-factor authentication

If you're worried about online safety and security, two-factor authentication is a great way to help protect your accounts. Two-factor authentication, also known as two-step verification, is an extra layer of security that requires you to verify your identity using two different factors.

There are many different ways to set up two-factor authentication, but in general, you'll need to provide two pieces of information: something you know (like a password) and something you have (like a phone) in order to log in.

With two-factor authentication in place, even if someone manages to steal your password, they still won't be able to access your account without the second piece of information.

One of the most common ways to set up two-factor authentication is to use an app like Google Authenticator or Lastpass Authenticator. These apps generate a unique code that you'll need to enter in addition to your password when logging into your account.

In our latest quick tip I take you through setting up your authenticator app in a few easy steps.
